Our School Community

Welcome to the Vale Primary School website! Our intention is to use this site to inform and celebrate the achievements the children make as they grow and learn during their time with us. This website is designed to give you a greater understanding and knowledge of the many aspects of our school and its place within the local community.

The child is at the centre of all that we do and we value them as unique individuals. We aim to provide a happy and safe learning environment where every child can achieve their best in all areas of the curriculum, whilst also becoming a well-rounded individual.

It is the primary aim of our school that every member of our community feels valued and respected, and that each person is treated fairly and well. We are a caring school community, whose values are built on mutual trust and respect for all. We aim to promote good relationships, so that people can work together with the common purpose of helping everyone to learn and reach their full potential.

We aim to help children to grow in a safe and secure environment, and to become positive, responsible and increasingly independent members of the school community.

We are a three-form entry primary school with over 500 pupils across both departments – infants and juniors. Pupils transfer to the junior department at the end of Year 2. These transition points are important for our pupils and we do our best to ensure that effective procedures and support are in place, not only when children join our school, but also as they move through different year groups.

Finally 'thank you' to all our dedicated, hard-working and enthusiastic staff for their continued support in all our endeavours. We look forward to the years ahead when we will be working with you as partners in the next phase of the education of your child.

We believe that:

  • Children are of valued equally, whatever their background or beliefs.
  • All members of the school should be treated with respect.
  • Pupils learn in different ways and at different speeds.
  • Each pupil is valued as an individual learner.
  • Teachers and parents are partners in their child’s education.

The aims of the school are:

  • To provide a safe, caring environment of equal opportunity where pupils can grow and develop intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically.
  • To encourage pupils to value themselves and each other.
  • To encourage pupils to become successful, independent learners, who are confident, enthusiastic, always striving to achieve high standards.
  • To foster pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
  • To encourage pupils to value the environment both natural and shaped by humanity.
  • To offer a wide range of opportunities for pupils to effectively contribute towards their learning and achievements and the learning of others.
  • To encourage pupils to be responsible citizens who value truth, justice, human rights, the rule of law and collective effort for the common good.
  • To prepare pupils for opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of the next phase of education and for adult life.

Positive relationships are encouraged throughout the school where good behaviour, effort and performance are rewarded by praise, stickers, certificates and in the juniors, house points which are recorded on a child’s house point card.  When their card is completed, the child receives a merit sticker in assembly.  House point totals are announced each week in our celebration assemblies. A trophy is awarded to the winning house each term. When a child enters the junior department, they are placed in one of four houses:

Balmoral - Red

Sandringham - Blue

Buckingham - Yellow

Windsor - Green
